Job Description

On a scheduled basis, be available to provide transportation for clients and a Case Worker as directed. This is an extra help position and may be filled by several different individuals to meet the needs of the Department. Successful applicants will be scheduled to be on Standby specific days per month. While on assigned Standby, the Driver must be able to respond and provide transportation for clients wherever the Case Manager directs. Applicants must be willing and able to transport any time - day or night while assigned to Standby. A county car will be provided for transport. Shifts currently available are: Weekdays (Monday—Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm), Weeknights (Monday - Friday 5:00pm - 8:00am), Weekends (Saturday and Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.) and County Holidays (schedule varies)

Job Requirements

  • A current California Driver’s License, with a clean driving record – a current California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) printout will be required from the successful applicants upon receiving a job offer. 
  • Ability to drive while assigned to Standby, whatever hours needed. 
  • Knowledge of : Operation of motor vehicles; motor vehicle laws relating to safe practices and operation of equipment; pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations; and basic mathematics. 
  • Ability to: Respond within 60 minutes when called to drive; read maps and directions to the various locations for client transport; drive a county vehicle safely; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
