This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.

Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics, the Senior Associate Athletic Director/COO will assist in the overall planning, directing, managing and conducting of a comprehensive Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA) program. Specific areas of responsibility will include Sports Administration, Facilities Management and Rental, Capital Projects, Game Day Management, and other administrative responsibilities. This position will also supervise several Head Coaches and other administrative staff. The Senior Associate Athletic Director will also serve as the Chief Operating Officer for the department and shares the responsibility for adapting program activities, services, and practices to correspond with the needs of the Athletics Department; the University's service area; and the dynamics of the institution. Qualifications
Required Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Required Experience: Five (5) years experience in college athletics; which has included training and supervising the work of others.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules. Ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and university policies and regulations pertaining to the Athletics Department. Working knowledge of a student information system, such as Banner and PeopleSoft. Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills. General knowledge of personal computer software for business functions; especially spreadsheet, database, word processing applications and email.
Ability to effectively manage and deliver student-oriented services on a campus with a diverse student body and staff using modern management and administrative techniques related to the development and implementation of appropriate methods of work planning, scheduling and coordination; assist with the planning, organization, and direction of others in the formation of program and policy within the operation; gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews; present clear and concise information orally and in written reports; train and evaluate the productivity and performance of other employees; analyze situations and take corrective action; communicate in a professional and effective manner-in both written and oral forms; and establish and maintain effective working relationships that promote professionalism and mutual respect in a multicultural and diverse academic community.
Skill in Strong communication, management, and leadership skills. Proficient in the use of personal computers including work processing, spreadsheets and database software. Must possess and maintain a valid license to drive in the State of California, pass the Defensive Training Class to operate State vehicles, and be insurable under the University's liability coverage. Demonstrated ability to address the essential functions associated with this position including the knowledge and abilities identified above.
Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

35% - Assists in the overall direction, management and budget planning and monitoring for ICA. Provides day-to-day operational oversight and direction to coaches and staff including the ICA sport programs, as assigned. Delegates work to subordinates, evaluate their work and provide guidance and training to department personnel. Assists in selection processes, evaluating staff work performance, establishing priorities and timelines for tasks and projects.
30% - Responsibility for the day to day operations of the department. Responsibility in coordinating, planning, promoting and operating athletic events. Make decisions for department operations in the Director's absence. Participate in administrative team meetings. Coordinate and direct all home event operations including staffing officials, hiring game day event staff and supervising workers. Supervise athletic events both home and away. Oversee all varsity team schedules and secure contracts with competing schools.
20% - Manage assigned buildings and maintenance projects. Assist with the management of all indoor and outdoor athletic facilities. Act as game operations manager for regular and post-season varsity events. Act as event manager for any outside special or contracted events including summer camps and clinics. Assist with the annual review and update of the ICA Strategic Plan and Athletics Operations Manual, Student-Athlete Handbook, University Catalog and other public documents.
10% - Oversees human resources-related activities including, but not limited to the coordination, processing and hiring of student assistant, faculty, and staff appointments; the review and evaluation of faculty, staff and students.
