The LACCD is composed of nine comprehensive colleges and a District Office, which together employ approximately 2,200 classified (non-teaching) employees in 315 job classifications.

Job Description

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) invites applications for the position of Community Services Manager. This position plans, develops, promotes, implements, manages and evaluates a large diversified community services program which includes recreational, cultural, non-credit educational, and special interest courses, activities, and events for a college.

MONTHLY SALARY: $6,740 - $8,350*
*Salary Information is based on a full-time, 12-month position

Plans, develops, directs and evaluates a large diversified program of community services which includes recreational, cultural, non-credit educational and special interest courses, activities and events.

Coordinates and/or participates in the collection and analysis of a variety of data related to community needs and interests and develops innovative programs and activities based on these analyses.

Establishes operational policies and procedures of program.

Coordinates community services projects and activities with existing programs and services.

Develops and maintains the program budget.

Establishes financial, staffing, facilities, and equipment requirements based on program needs, available resources, and profitability requirements.

Establishes and maintains liaison with community leaders, community organizations, and public agencies to encourage participation and to stimulate interest in the college's community service programs.

Attends and participates in professional conferences and meetings concerned with community services programs.

Develops and conducts in-service training for community services program personnel.

Recruits, interviews, selects, and supervises instructors and office personnel.

Provides technical and professional expertise to college administrators on community services and related matters.

Prepares news releases, catalogs, brochures, and public service announcements to promote program offerings.

Prepares comprehensive reports and presentations related to community services.

Negotiates and prepares contracts for the lease of various facilities.

Supervises the maintenance of program files and records.

Performs related duties as assigned.

A current vacancy exists at Los Angeles Valley College, 5800 Fulton Ave, Valley Glen, CA 91401.   • Medical and dental insurance and vision care plans are provided for employees and their dependents.
  • A $50,000 life insurance policy is provided free of charge for each employee.
  • 12 full-pay days and 88 half-pay days of illness leave.

  • Vacation days accrue annually beginning at 10 days and increasing incrementally to 24 days depending on years of service with the District.  Vacation days for management and confidential positions begin at 15, 20, or 24 days.

  • Employees become members of the Public Employees Retirement System.  The employee contribution rate is 6 percent.  The District also contributes to the retirement system.  Employees are also covered by Social Security.

Job Requirements


Education and Experience:

A bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university. 


Four years of full-time, paid experience in developing and implementing a diversified community-oriented recreational, cultural, educational, or special interest program. Supervisory experience within this program is desirable.



A valid California Class “C” driver’s license. Travel to locations throughout the District is required.
