The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.  In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Litigation Attorney (Associate Deputy City Attorney ) classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

The City of San Jose, Office of the City Attorney has an opening for a litigation attorney to staff a one-year entry level position in the Litigation Division. The person filling this position will research and analyze factual and legal issues, draft pleadings, prepare evidence and make frequent court appearances for matters involving gun violence restraining orders, weapons dispositions and related Municipal Code violations. The Office is seeking a motivated individual with the ability to work independently and also in a team environment. 

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must be licensed to practice law in California as of July 1, 2021, have a strong academic background, and excel at written and oral advocacy.
