The Johnson County Mental Health Justice Team is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of an On-Call Mental Health Registered Nurse (RN)
to work at least 4 shifts/month at the Olathe and New Century Adult Detention Centers. The Mental Health Nurse provides direct psychiatric services to inmates in a correctional setting. This position will remain open until filled.
Other responsibilities include:
- Provides comprehensive nursing services; assesses the holistic needs of individuals by incorporating family and environmental factors; collects and documentsinmate health history; measures and records vital signs; completes health assessments and performs limited exams; obtains, processes, and handles lab specimens; manages, controls and implements medication administration programs; performs minor procedures and treatments within designated area of specialty.
- Completes and submits documentation regardinginmate care and condition; reviews quality and effectiveness of services provided and documented by other service providers.
- Provides inmates with supportive resources; educates patients in areas impacting health, wellness, and daily living activities; develops and provides specialized health training and education to staff.
- Provides case management, care coordination, referral and follow-up to inmates; evaluates outcomes, effectiveness of plans, and makes changes as necessary.
Successful completion of education program in Nursing that meets the requirements for the Registered Nurse license; licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Kansas; valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
One year of nursing experience is preferred, though recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
