Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Conservation Educators plan, organize, implement and evaluate educational programs designed to teach hunter and boating safety, environmental concepts and other wildlife related areas to the public, and participate in public relations activities.
This position is the senior member of a two-person Water Development crew that performs a wide range of necessary water development (or guzzler) related inspection, maintenance, repair and construction duties. The position also ensures that all vehicles and equipment used on projects remain in good operating condition and proper maintenance is done in accordance with appropriate operating manuals; ensures equipment is utilized in a safe and responsible manner. This position also helps implement other programs to achieve assigned habitat program objectives and supervises the other member of the guzzler crew. The Water Development Crew is occasionally required to work for extended periods in locations that are a significant distance from the home base, which requires camping out in remote areas for an extended period of time including weekends. This position must also represent NDOW and interact with people of varied interests, including the many volunteers that assist the crew on guzzler construction and major rebuild projects. Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience in maintenance, farming or construction work; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Positions in this series are required to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement and air brake certification within six months of appointment.

Travel up to 40% of the time required.
Ability to work effectively in adverse weather conditions, remote geographical areas and in all types of wilderness terrain.
