Under general direction the stockroom clerk receives, issues, ships and stores materials, supplies, tools, parts and equipment; maintains stock and inventory records; and operates a variety of material handling equipment.

Receives incoming orders, unpacks materials, supplies, tools and equipment; verifies articles received against packing lists and purchase requisitions and notes discrepancies or damaged items;
Maintains an organized and efficient warehouse and stockroom;
Performs physical inventories assuring completeness and quality of records;
Stores articles on designated shelves, racks or in other storage areas; ensures storage area is in clean and orderly condition;
Enters relevant information into the Maintenance Management Information Systems (MMIS) to initiate/complete shipping and receiving transactions;
Coordinates with departmental staff to pick up and deliver equipment, materials or parts;
Packs and returns damaged, surplus or outdated materials as instructed;
Performs other duties of similar nature and level as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
Basic methods and practices of receiving, storing and distribution of materials;
Vehicle and equipment parts, accessories, parts assemblies and terminology;
Use and maintenance of basic hand and power tools related to the work;
Safety standards relative to handling hazardous chemicals and materials;
Computerized recordkeeping and related data entry procedures.
Performing accurate receipt, storage and distribution of materials;
Safety using and maintaining hand and power tools and materials handling equipment related to the work;
Making accurate arithmetic calculations;
Understanding and following oral and written directions;
Efficiently manage time and workload including planning, prioritizing, organizing, and following through on a variety of tasks;
Contributing to effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions in a warehouse setting.
Incumbent must perform heavy manual labor, strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment up 100 pounds with proper equipment.
Warehouse setting. Requires lifting of equipment and supplies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma, or G.E.D. equivalent, AND one (1) year of experience as a stock clerk, storekeeper, warehouse worker, or similar work. Equivalent combination of training, education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties such as those listed above.

Valid Arizona driver's license
Position requires the ability to maintain insurability under METRO's Vehicle Insurance Policy.
