Tacoma Public Schools is looking for a creative, adaptive, and highly effective Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. The successful candidate must see diversity as something to celebrate and equity as the path to progress.

This Cabinet level position establishes and administers the goals and objectives for Curriculum and Instruction; Highly Capable & Equity and Achievement; AVID and Academic Acceleration; Title I/LAP; Early Learning; CTE and Research & Evaluation departments and programs.

This person oversees departmental planning and development, interprets policies and regulations and works with department administrators to resolve issues in a targeted and timely manner. It is crucial that the successful candidate is able to analyze data, identify trends, and in turn, recommend program direction.

The professional in this position will perform as liaison between district staff, parents, students, professional associations, community-based organizations, the public, and a variety of interest groups. Excellent communication skills are a must to be able to investigate and respond to inquiries and concerns from all stakeholders.  Partnerships and work with the Tacoma community and local businesses is an important aspect of this position.
