Engineering Associate II, III or Civil Engineer
The Sanitation Districts are a non-civil service public agency with over 1,700 employees, including over 200 engineers. We are nationally recognized for innovative engineering practices and leadership in designing, constructing and operating state-of-the-art systems for solid waste and wastewater management.
The current vacancy is located at our Field Office in the City of Carson located off the 110 freeway and Sepulveda Blvd. Our engineers enjoy a 40-hour workweek with project assignments primarily within the LA Basin area. *Initial salary placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications. A candidate hired at a level higher than Associate Engineer must be a registered Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California.
THE CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT SECTION
Under the general supervision of a Supervising Engineer, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the construction of various types of capital improvement projects. There are currently over 60 sewer, landfill and treatment plant projects under contract, with associated contract amounts totaling in excess of $500 million. Within the next 5 years the Sanitation Districts expects to have several challenging projects under construction, including an effluent outfall tunnel, an advanced water treatment facility, several treatment plant power distribution, concrete rehabilitation and process system expansion projects, food waste collection facilities, numerous sewer rehabilitation projects involving slip lining and cured in place pipe.
NOTE: These positions may occasionally require work during holidays, weekends, night or evening hours.
Applicants must possess a valid California Class C driver license -AND- Option A : A bachelor's degree and master's degree both in a pertinent engineering discipline from an accredited and recognized college or university; Option B: A bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a related science with an Engineer-In-Training Certificate and a master's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a pertinent engineering discipline; Option C : Two years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited and recognized college or university.
Desirable Qualifications: The ideal candidate would have at least 2 years experience in construction management including cost estimating and project scheduling. A bachelor's and master's degree in Civil Engineering is desirable.
