ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Division for Information Technology and Institutional Planning (IT&IP) provides innovative, strategic and cost-appropriate technology services in collaboration with the campus community to advance the mission of the University. Information and Digital technology services are recognized as an essential resource in furthering the University's mission. The IT&IP Division will provide technology solutions, expert consultation, and leadership resulting in numerous enhancements to the advancement of learning and knowledge and to the effectiveness of campus support services and business processes for the entire University.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Under the direction of the AVP, facilitates evidence-based decision-making for all Divisions of the University in support of the University's mission and strategic goals.
• Provide detailed and disaggregated data, data analysis, and data narratives as it pertains to underserved and minoritized students and special populations to assist data provision for evidence-based decision making.
• Plays an essential role in supporting planning, resource and strategic decision making for all Divisions at the University.
• Partner with senior administrators to transform data into accessible, intelligible, and actionable dashboards and reports in support of the University's priorities.
• Serve as a consultant for the development, administration and interpretation of university-wide survey research.
• Assist the University's Divisions and the Vice Presidents in developing data collection strategies in support of the University's mission and strategic plan.
• Collaborates with key offices across the university, such as Enrollment Management & Services, Student Success, Academic Planning & Faculty Excellence in the Division of Academic Affairs; Data Architecture & Analytics in the Division of Information Technology & Institutional Planning; and Student Affairs Assessment in the Division of Student Affairs.
• Advises the President and the Vice Presidents on a range of issues and providing timely and relevant data to guide discussions and decisions.
• Assists the President in preparing metrics for external and internal reports.
• Verify consistency and accuracy of University reports developed.
• Provide vision, leadership and administration of the Institutional Research, Planning, and Analytics office in the Division of Information Technology & Institutional Planning.
• Assist with the development and collection of University outcomes identified within the University Strategic Plan.
• Identify, collect, and report data in support of the University Strategic Plan metrics.
• Oversee the administration of course evaluations and distribution of results for the University.
• Conduct annual assessment of the office's services and evaluate and implement needed changes.
• Prepare monthly report of the office's planned initiatives, detailing alignment with division and university strategic goals.
• Collaborate with staff on projects and assignments.
• Collaborate with directors on staff issues, concerns and staff development.
• Identify, assign, and prioritize work assignments for staff.
• Recruit and train staff and student assistants to maintain adequate coverage.
• Provide annual performance evaluations and ensure the professional development of staff.
• Serve as a member of the IT&IP Executive Council and other leadership meetings.
• Work in collaboration with other IT&IP executive leaders on the division's strategic planning initiatives, projects and related assignments.
• Assure end-user experience is considered as a key component of any technology service introduced or upgraded.
• Represent IT&IP in various collaborative campus venues, leveraging then as additional input sources for planning.
• Analyze the functional needs of the group and the campus to aid in the planning, development and deployment of departmental and university wide analytics.
• Facilitate the planning, design, and implementation of the analytics solutions for departmental, student, and university wide solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• A Master's degree from an accredited university in education, analytics, business, public administration, computer science, social science, or other relevant discipline with a quantitative concentration.
• Five (5) years of demonstrated experience in the field of institutional planning/research/information management or analytics and reporting. Three (3) years of supervisory experience. Demonstrated project planning expertise. Demonstrated expertise in leading teams.
• Superior oral presentation skills in support of decision-making processes, and excellent writing skills.
• Possess a balance of highly developed management skills and leadership ability as well as specialized technical expertise.
• Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of institutional planning/research/information management in a University setting, including applicable legal and administrative requirements, reporting regulations, and related best practices.
• Ability to function with a high degree of autonomy and creativity.
• Ability to develop collaborative relationships with faculty as well as technical and non-technical management and professional staff representing various interests and perspectives.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to develop an environment that promotes partnership and transparency with other organizations.
• Ability to provide strong leadership to build consensus among diverse groups of campus and provide confidence to subordinates in the face of organizational change.
• Ability to manage and motivate technical staff members and managers.
• Ability to understand complex institutional planning/research/information management needs and provide leadership for the development of integrated solutions in a collaborative manner.
• Ability to analyze complex situations such as personnel or operational issues, and to develop and implement corrective actions and strategies for division-wide success.
• Excellent oral and written skills required to communicate effectively with diverse academic and administrative constituencies both on and off campus.
• Innovative and visionary thinking. Ability to manage highly complex projects.
• Strong analytical and technical skills.
• High ethical standards and business acumen.
• Valid CA Driver's License and Insurance in order to facilitate his or her transportation requirements for off-campus meetings.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A Master's degree from an accredited university in education, analytics, business, public administration, computer science, social science, or other relevant discipline with a quantitative concentration.
• More than eight years of demonstrated experience in the field of institutional planning/research/information management or analytics and reporting.
• Teaching experience in higher education.
• Experience in a large, complex and diverse public higher education institution.
• Demonstrated experience with the full implementation of large-scale projects.

APPOINTMENT AND SALARY
Salary is competitive and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
