Job Description

The Golf Assistant Manager works closely with the golf course guests on a daily basis. This position manages the golf staff and oversees the golf operations during their shift. The candidate must be able to properly communicate with customers and handle complaints. Providing a high level of customer service is imperative. Employees may be assigned other duties as determined by management. Essential duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Greet guests and provide any information needed
  • Book tee times both over the phone and in person
  • Check in golfers before their round and complete merchandise transactions
  • Maintain stock of pro shop merchandise and range balls
  • Assist with pro shop merchandise inventory
  • Clean and organize the pro shop
  • Provide customers with information regarding the golf course and the merchandise
  • Manage the golf staff and make sure all of their tasks are completed each shift
  • Oversee the golf course operations while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Handle customer complaints
  • Train golf staff
  • Understand and be able to execute the job of all the golf staff positions
  • Open the building and prepare it for customers
  • Close and lock the building and set the alarm
  • Serve food and beverages
  • Follow food safety guidelines
  • Monitor the pace of play
  • Be knowledgeable and explain all golf course policies to the guests
  • Monitor the golf cart rotation
  • Clean golf carts and assure they properly charged
  • Assist with the development, promotion and execution of golf leagues, events and golf outings
  • Exhibit flexibility, creativity and efficiency in performing work assignments
  • Responsible for weekly staff scheduling
  • Tee sheet construction and management
  • Work with marketing team to create visual content to print materials
  • Promotion through e-blasting and e-mail database management
  • Update/edit website and social media platforms
  • Coordinating web based promotions and interactions


Qualifications

  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be comfortable working with money
  • Ability to enter data while on the phone
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Ability to follow direction
  • Must be able to learn the point of sale and tee sheet software and use as instructed
  • Must be able to stand on your feet for the length of the shift
  • Must be able to work scheduled shifts that include days, evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
  • Must be able to work and communicate cooperatively with employees and customers
  • Must be able to provide a high level of customer service
  • Must follow all state of Michigan alcohol laws
  • TAM certification preferred but may be obtained once hired

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school education required
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Extensive experience in the golf course business or equivalent sports/entertainment industry preferred
  • TAM certification preferred but may obtained once hired

SALARY & BENEFITS
  • Non-exempt, at-will employment status
  • $17-19.50 per hour based on experience
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, defined contribution, and paid time off after 90 days of employment.
