Major Duties
• Under general supervision, the Director of Development, David Nazarian College of Business and Economics (DNCBE) reports directly to the Executive Director of Development and External Relations, in partnership with the College leadership and professional colleagues, and is responsible for implementing a strong, proactive program to secure major gifts from a portfolio of approximately 125 major gift prospects and donors, including alumni, parents, friends, corporations, and foundations.
• The incumbent utilizes a thorough knowledge of gift vehicles, including planned, capital and principal gifts, gifts-in-kind, and grants to secure philanthropic funds; is responsible for working in consistent alignment with the "Fundraising at CSUN" guidelines and works collaboratively with the college administration, faculty and volunteers in priority areas and with Advancement colleagues and key administrators in support of initiatives that may be university-wide.
• Identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards major gifts of $25,000 or more by making at least 120 donor visits, submitting at least 20 well-positioned solicitations of $25,000 or more, and closing at least 5 major gift commitments valued at $25,000 for a total to be determined on an annual basis.

Qualifications
• Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field, Master's degree preferred.
• Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative development experience; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.
• Experience in making cold calls and resilience in dealing with initial resistance and rejection.
• Higher education fundraising and/or prior professional experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership
• Demonstrated knowledge and proven skills in developing sophisticated strategies in planning, implementing, and administering complex major gift solicitations and/or other solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity.
• Ability and specialized skills to: possess strong documented record of gifts solicited and closed in the special and major gifts range and/or solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity; have experience in making cold calls and resilience in dealing with initial resistance and rejection.
• Motivate colleagues, volunteers and donors; possess familiarity with prospect screening activities and applications; possess persuasive oral and written communication skills to prepare and present solicitation strategies, proposals and other marketing materials.
• Manage multiple tasks and multi-phase projects simultaneously from inception to completion; possess strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with faculty, deans, volunteers, and development colleagues campus-wide.
• Possess skills in databases, office software and fundraising databases; have well-developed organizational skills, focus and a goal-oriented temperament, with a high level of drive and energy.
• Exercise initiative and accept responsibility to work proactively with minimum supervision; demonstrated skill in problem solving and using judgement in situations requiring independent initiative and tact; and possess a high degree of professionalism.
• Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
• Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
• Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
• Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
• The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to; medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
• Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience.
• Hours: Full Time; 40 hours per week; 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday; may include some evening and weekends.
• REG: This is a Regular position.
