BEHAVIORAL HEALTH DIVISION
The Health and Human Services Agency's Behavioral Health Division is committed to the physical and mental health of the residents of El Dorado County. They provide a wide variety of services to the community, including mental health 24-hour crisis services, adult and children's services, Substance Use Disorder Services, Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) programs, mental health first aid training, and much more!

THE OPPORTUNITY
Use your knowledge and skills to assist your community! You will have the opportunity to assist mental health clients in their ability to maintain and improve their level of functioning and provide peer counseling and transportation services to clients as needed.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to:
  • Provide advocacy for individuals receiving mental health services.
  • Assistant clients in enrolling in social service benefits such as Social Security (SSI), Medi-Cal, General Assistance, and medical care and coverage (County Medical Services Program).
  • Provide direct training and counseling to clients in parenting and household management skills.
  • Instruct clients in nutritional meal preparation, budgeting and household care.
  • Participate as a member of the community outreach team and engage clients in enrolling in mental health and social service programs.
  • Provide peer counseling and assistance to a caseload of clients; engage program participants in wellness and recovery activities.
  • Assess the need for food, clothing, and transportation; help clients link to other community services.

Human resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following recommendations:

EDUCATION:
Graduation from high school or successful completion of the General Education Development (GED) test is required.

EXPERIENCE:
Equivalent to twelve (12) hours of mental health provider training in consumer self-help, mental health intervention, or daily living skills for Mental Health clients OR six (6) months of experience in providing assistance and communicating with clients or providers in a community, social services or mental health setting.

Other Requirements:
Must possess and maintain a California class C driver's license and provide a satisfactory driving history as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The County of El Dorado is recruiting applicants for Mental Health Aide. This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full time, part time, and extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months. There is currently one (1) full time vacancy and one (1) part time vacancy located in Diamond Springs, Ca. While part time positions vary, this specific vacancy is anticipated to work approximately 10 hours/week.
