Salary: $55,633.64 - $85,119.46 Annually USD
Education and Experience : Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Scienceand three (3) years of laboratory management experience or five (5) years of laboratory supervisory experience.
Licenses and Certificates : Registration as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (MT (ASCP)) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) by the National Credentialing Agency. CLIA High Complexity-General Supervisor qualified within one (1) year of appointment. Class C Driver's License or equivalent from another state.
Under general direction, oversee, plan, supervise and administer laboratory operations and ensure laboratory compliance with applicable regulations.
Review, recommend and approve methods for laboratory analysis. Involves: Establish, review and develop project status reports. Design and implement analytical laboratory procedures and sample chain-of-custody, quality control and assurance, laboratory safety or related programs. Research and adapt new laboratory techniques. Administer the Laboratory Information Management System. Evaluate new instruments for application to the needs of the laboratory. Prepare and implement analysis and testing schedules. Evaluate technical problems and provide direction for resolution. Analyze and prepare analytical data reports for submission for regulatory compliance. Participate in the Laboratory Resources Network (LRN). Collaborate with pathologists on testing methodologies, proficiency testing and associated parameters. Oversee the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA) proficiency testing.
Provide sectional administrative support and direction. Involves: Conduct short-term and long-term planning. Monitor production. Prepare and maintain time and cost estimates for tests or experiments and calculating outside testing and sampling service costs. Prepare cost analysis projections to justify annual budget and capital improvement requests. Determine need for new instrumentation and/or new methods. Prepare specifications for laboratory instrumentation. Review and approve price quotes for laboratory purchases.
Supervise assigned personnel. Involves: Meet with supervisory and general staff on regularly scheduled basis. Oversee procedural activities. Instruct, review, guide and check work. Appraise employee performance of senior staff and review evaluations by supervisors. Provide training and development. Ensure that applicable certifications are obtained and maintained for laboratory staff. Enforce personnel rules, regulations, and work and safety standards. Counsel, motivate and maintain harmony. Interview applicants. Recommend hires, transfers, disciplinary action, merit pay or other employee status changes.

Salary Range: $55,633.64 - $77,748.01 per year.
The starting salary is generally at the beginning of the salary range.
