Correctional Nurses provide professional nursing care to patients in a correctional setting. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff, or they coordinate and provide statewide health-related training programs. The Correctional Nurse (CN) III will work under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Service for the facility and will consult with them on a regular basis. They will be supervising CN IIs including supervising the selection and assignment of duties, performance, evaluations, counseling, and discipline; assure infection control procedures and OSHA guidelines are followed by staff; and ensure staff receives annual training on OSHA guidelines, blood borne pathogens, use of safety engineered sharps, safe work practices and use of personal protective equipment. This position requires working directly with inmates to carry out nursing care assignments. The Nurse will promote optimal health and patient independence; document problems requiring nursing interventions; document patient teaching needs and discharge planning; and communicate care plans to other nurses to maintain continuity of care. **Please ensure your application reflects your current nursing license information.
