The City of Baytown, Texas, one of the largest cities in the Houston metropolitan area and one of the Texas Gulf Coast’s best-kept secrets.  The City is currently enjoying tremendous growth brought on by expansions in the energy market. The cornerstones of Baytown’s industrial development are three world-recognized entities consisting of ExxonMobil, Chevron Phillips, and Covestro. Local partners are in the midst of multibillion-dollar expansions, which are fueling unprecedented growth in the retail, service, and housing markets.  The City has strategic plans in place to reinvest revenue streams and capture spin-off from feeder industries. 

Job Description

Baytown intends to hire a dynamic, forward-thinking, visionary leader, with a proven record of accomplishments in municipal planning and development services to serve as Director of Planning & Development Services. 

Job Requirements

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree, from an accredited college or university, in Planning, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Public Administration or a closely related field.  Additional qualifications include a minimum of ten years related professional experience, of which, at least five years must have been in a leadership, supervisory or management role, and a valid (or the ability to secure) a driver’s license is required.  A master’s degree, from an accredited college or university, in Planning or a closely related field, and certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) desired.
