Substance Abuse Counselors perform professional duties in areas of screening, assessment, case management, education, and treatment of clients and perform related administrative duties and recordkeeping in accordance with the standards and requirements of the Nevada Board of Examiners for Alcohol, Drug and Gambling Counselors. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. Incumbents provide direct supervision over the substance abuse programming and subordinates as well as provides direct clinical work that includes intakes, group facilitation, individual counseling, etc. The incumbent provides information regarding clinical aspects of program; make program recommendations for use in program planning and budget development; maintains program records and prepares periodic reports; coordinates/facilitates treatment planning and program activities; and coordinate the provision of services with department personnel (e.g., custody staff, psychologists, nurses); and supervises clinical practice of substance abuse counselors to accomplish program goals and objectives. ** Please ensure your application reflects your licensure or certification as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor or Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor.
