Weights and Measures Inspectors inspect all commercial weighing and measuring devices, enforce applicable regulations, and sample gasoline and diesel fuel for quality in order to protect the economic interests of consumers and merchants in the State. Under limited supervision, incumbents are responsible for a regional weights and measures inspection program. The incumbents supervise Weights and Measures Inspectors at the I, II, and III levels involved in ensuring that weighing and measuring devices in commercial use in the State are licensed, accurate and suitable for their intended use. Supervisory duties include but are not limited to performance evaluations, work performance standards, scheduling, assigning and reviewing work, training and discipline. The Department of Agriculture is recruiting for a Weights & Measures Inspector 4. This position is assigned to the Division of Consumer Equitability located in Sparks, Nevada and serves as the senior supervisor for the Sparks and Elko based Weights and Measures Inspector teams. Supervisory duties include but are not limited to, scheduling, assigning and reviewing work for work units and individual employees, training employees, preparing employee work performance standards and reports on employee performance, and employee discipline. The incumbent in this position is responsible for management of vehicles, equipment and materials assigned to the work units they supervise, including coordination of vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair services. This position participates in the development and implementation of the division's procedures; this position is responsible to interpret and apply laws and regulations administered by the division. Incumbent is required to operate a diesel truck and trailer. This position affects public safety and therefore the incumbent will need to pass a pre-employment screening for drugs. The incumbent will also travel up to 25% for this position.
