Under general supervision of the Music Department Chair, the Accompanist serves on an on call basis accompanying students during lessons when necessary. Provides support to recitals for vocal students and wind or string students. Performs other duties as assigned.
Special training or coursework in piano that would facilitate composing and improvising music and/or coaching and accompanying. Experience which has led to a thorough familiarity with accompanying choral groups and soloists.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge and mastery in one or more of the following: string and wind repertoire' operatic and art song repertoire; fundamentals of harmony and skill in playing one or more musical instruments as accompanist; digital recording; theatre lighting; sound equipment; musical instrument tools; graphic arts software; AV equipment; Microsoft Word and Excel; high competency in performance and coaching for young artists. Ability and specialized skills to: compose or improvise music, and transcribe music from recordings.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
The salary range for this classification is: $18.30 - $32.15/hr.
The anticipated hiring range: $18.30 - $26.80, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
HOURS: Intermittent, on call; Hours and schedule vary.
TEMP: Temporary - renewable, end date to be determined.
