Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

Cashier I: 17 years old

Cashier II: 18 year old and 6 (six) months of relevant experience.

The City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department ( PARD ) provides protects and preserves a park system that promotes quality recreational, cultural and outdoor experiences for the Austin community.

This Cashier position is being recruited as a multi-position posting and multiple candidates will be hired from this recruitment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Tasks may involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying or using a force equal to lifting up to ten (10) pounds.
  • Must be physically and mentally able to communicate, respond and work with participant's needs and safety issues.

Multiple Work Sites:
  • This position will require traveling to multiple sites throughout the work day.

Pay Range
$15.00 per hour

Work/Location Schedule Notes:
  • Variable 20-40 hour a week shifts between the hours of 6:30am - 10:00pm, 7 days a week.
  • May be required to work during special events, evenings, weekends & holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

    Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
    Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

    1. Greet all patrons and staff entering the facility with courtesy.
    2. Collects payments by accepting cash and making change for cash customers.
    3. Balances cash drawer by counting cash at beginning and end of work shift.
    4. Count facility swim tickets and record facility gate data as assigned.
    5. Provides information by answering questions, requests and assisting with patron concerns.
    6. Note and forward messages to appropriate personnel.
    7. Assist in emergency situations at your facility and other facilities if needed
    8. Assist the District Supervisor with phone calls and other assisted assigned duties.
    9. Maintains checkout operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
    10. Maintains safe and clean working environments by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
    11. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

    • None.

    Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
