This position will oversee in the development of the Refuse Division work plan and methods; assignwork activities, projects and programs; monitor the work of contractors performing refuse collection work for the City;implement policies and procedures and develop new or modified systems, policies and procedures. The position will also develop and implement refuse collection routes and schedules; inspect work sites and collection routes before, during and after completion to assure work is completed in a satisfactory and thorough manner. Work is performed in an office environment and may require occasional travel to off-site facilities, which could involve exposure to outdoor temperatures and inclement weather; equipment noise, equipment vibrations, vehicle and/or chemical fumes, chemicals such as cleaning solvents and grease, machinery and their moving parts, dust and water/moisture. Job duties involve sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged or intermittent periods of time, and reaching, bending, and twisting at the waist to perform desk work and operate general office equipment, including a personal computer and keyboard, for prolonged or intermittent periods of time.
