Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor of FORESTRY. A full-time, academic year, tenure-track position in the Natural Resources Management and Environmental Sciences Department (NRES) within the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California. Starting date is September 10, 2020, but no later than January 4, 2021. Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Cal Poly has a tradition of excellence in teaching and our motto is "Learn by Doing." The ideal candidate will have broad forestry education and expertise in silviculture. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the following areas: silviculture, forest operations, forest ecology, and wildland fire and fuels management. In addition to teaching, successful candidates are expected to pursue research and professional activities. He/she will establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with industry stakeholders in the forestry sector. He/she will advise and involve undergraduate and graduate students in hands-on-learning activities and research. Service activities will include participation on department, college, and university committees and instructionally related activities. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between the NRES Department and the Director of Cal Poly's Swanton Pacific Ranch (SPR) forest in Santa Cruz County with 25% assigned time for research and outreach in support of SPR.
