About the Department:
Office of Student Engagement (OSE) supports an inclusive student life environment by offering social and co-curricular opportunities that foster student involvement and build affinity to California State University, San Bernardino. OSE advises over 150 unique student clubs and organizations, this includes approximately the 23 Greek Life chapters active at CSUSB. OSE also houses the National Student Exchange program, which allows students to experience up to one year at another university within the US and Canada. OSE is the one-stop shop for engagement and involvement at CSUSB. The department is committed to supporting the holistic development of CSUSB students by bridging curricular and co-curricular experiences, and preparing them for graduation!

Reporting to the Interim Director of Office of Student Engagement, the Finance and Administrative Coordinator will maintain financial accounts for the Office of Student Engagement, including Greek Life and other affiliated CSUSB Clubs.The Finance and Administrative Coordinator serves a key partner to CSUSB student organizations that provides regular financial advisement on account fund balances and encourage good spending practices. Typical Responsibilities include, but is not limited to:
Under general supervision, the incumbent will determine methods to evaluate programmatic, financial and budgetary goals. When needed, the incumbent will provide recommendations changes to the OSE leadership team .
Review the progress against overall goals/objectives and prepare department financial statements and reports, as needed.
Incumbent will assess the impact of recommended or implemented financial expenditures.
Incumbent will regularly work with student organizations and provide regular financial advisement on account fund balances and prudent spending practices.
Prepare other financial statements as necessary in addition to processing budget transactions related to deposits, invoice requests, requisitions, travel advances, etc.
Advise and assist the Interim Director with feasibility and cost benefit analysis for OSE programs and its budgetary impact.
Work with program coordinators around tracking expenditures and revenues.
Assess fiscal needs and make recommendations to the Director, Engagement Coordinators, and Accounting Office and student leaders.
Review department financial data for accuracy and reconcile accounts as necessary. Work collaboratively with General Accounting and the Division Budget Analyst to post all accounting entries, monitor and review cash funds, and assist with preparing annual budgets.
Serve as backup to front counter operations as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

If typing/keystroke skill is required, a keystroke speed of 50 C.W.P.M. is necessary. Applicants must possess the equivalent to five years of experience in general office clerical work, along with a thorough mastery of English, grammar, spelling and punctuation. Applicants must possess experience in using office software packages, technology, and systems. Applicants must have the ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures independently, and use judgment and discretion to act when precedents do not exist, along with the ability to troubleshoot most office administration problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to work area. Applicants must possess the ability to understand problems from a broader perspective and anticipate the impact of office administration problems and solutions on other areas, along with the ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions. Applicants must have the ability to perform business math, analyze budgetary data, and make accurate projections, along with the ability to effectively write and present own reports. Applicants must possess the ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations, along with the ability to use negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve results and expedite projects. Applicant must have the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse campus community of people.
