The Sanitation Districts are a non-civil service public agency with over 1,700 employees, including over 200 engineers. We are nationally recognized for innovative engineering practices and leadership in designing, constructing and operating state-of-the -art systems for solid waste and wastewater management.
Our Joint Administration Office in Whittier is conveniently located near the 60/605 freeway interchange, 15 miles from downtown L.A. Our engineers enjoy a 40-hour workweek, which includes an option to work a 9/80 schedule. Many car/vanpool opportunities exist in Orange County and the Inland Empire. Under the general supervision of a Supervising Engineer, the incumbent will contribute to the strategic planning process for the Districts' wastewater and solid waste facilities; participate in the development of long-term solutions for Districts' facilities to adapt to future policy and regulatory changes; complete environmental impact assessments and facilities plans; secure operating, environmental and land use permits; work with partner agencies in the planning of reuse projects; and review of proposed development plans and regulations that may affect District's operations.
The incumbent's duties may include preparing requests for proposals for professional services, overseeing the work of consultants, making public presentations, writing CEQA compliant documents, preparing agreements, and developing cost estimates.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess a valid California Class C driver license-AND-
additional credentials as follows: Option A : A bachelor's degree and master's degree both in a pertinent engineering discipline from an accredited and recognized college oruniversity; Option B: A bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a related science with an Engineer-In-Training Certificate and a master's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a pertinent engineering discipline; Option C: Two years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelor's degree inengineering from an accredited and recognized college or university.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with the preparation of long-term wastewater facilities planning documents; good writing and communication skills; experience preparing and reviewing CEQA/NEPA documents; ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a variety of people; the ability to work independently, manage projects, and be part of a team.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
In addition to the minimum and desirable qualifications listed above, the most competitive applicants will have 2-4 years of experience performing environmental analysis, review, and document preparation.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
