Job Description

Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, the elderly, and other individuals within local communities and institutions. This position is located within the Community Based Care Program of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) in Las Vegas, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and provides a positive working environment. Our mission is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development, and delivery of a high quality comprehensive support service system to allow all of Nevada's elders, children, and adults with disabilities or special health care needs to live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. This recruitment may be used to underfill a Social Worker 2 position. The incumbent may progress to the next level after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and approval of the appointing authority. Due to continued concerns surrounding COVID-19, one of the proactive steps the State has taken at this time is to limit the hiring of current and future vacant positions. This includes positions that are currently open and in the recruitment process. Your application will be reviewed and will be available to hiring authorities after the temporary freeze has been lifted. The selected candidate will ensure a coordinated support system that meets the needs of at-risk elderly and disabled persons by providing case management and essential services to recipients to facilitate community integration and avoid institutionalization. Responsibilities include case management; assessment and eligibility determination; development, implementation, and oversight of the plan of care; home visits; and documentation utilizing a web-based case management software system. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
