BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES The Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Division consists of three service areas (Adult and Older Adult Behavioral Health, Authority and Quality Improvement Services and Children, Youth & Prevention Services) which provide a culturally competent and client-centered system of behavioral health services for all eligible county residents in need of treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse and mental health care. THE OPPORTUNITY These positions provide professional counseling and treatment services for adults, children and youth exhibiting a wide variety of mental health, drug abuse and/or alcohol related disorders in a clinic, home, field or institutional setting. Depending on the assignment night, weekend and holidayshifts may be required. TheBehavioral Health ClinicianI may: Provide both individual and group interventions, such as psycho-educational groups, parent training, brief individual counseling, brief group counseling, case management, referral and linkage to community services; utilize a variety of evidence-based practices in interventions provided to the community Screen participants for program eligibility, and conduct both individual and family needs assessments Prepare written materials and present information in ways that are professional and will represent HCA positively; conduct training and educational programs for internal and external participants Collect both demographic and outcomes data to measure impact of program and changes in behavioral health; responsible for chart documentation, which may include service plans and progress notes Participate in the on-going development and implementation of programs and may complete a variety of projects to accomplish this task Perform outreach to outside organizations and the public to explain services and eligibility for County run programs Provide field-based services to participants in order to help engage them in treatment and also help them find meaningful roles and activities in the community Attend trainings as needed and be prepared to utilize the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system for scheduling and documentation requirements for some divisions Follow the ethical and practice guidelines as outlined by the Board of Behavioral Science May participate in research projects, conduct oversight of services by contract providers, or perform crisis intervention and involuntary hold evaluations depending on division requirements DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate should be able to demonstratesound judgment, good decision making and be able to exercise good problem solving skills. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be able to work independently and demonstrate reliability; proactive involvement in work; and confidence and optimism in performing daily tasks. Bilingual skills are highly desirable, especially in Spanish or Vietnamese. SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS To be selected for a position with the Orange County Sheriff's Department applicants must not have been convicted of a felony or be on any form of probation and must pass an extensive background investigation to the satisfaction of the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner. With a staff of 117 and utilizing inmate labor, Food Services provides three nutritionally balanced meals to each inmate housed in the County's five jail facilities. These meals must meet or exceed the requirements set forth by the California Board of Corrections, National Academy of Sciences Recommended Daily Allowances, and the California Daily Food Guide. Food Services also prepares special dietary meals ordered by Correctional Health Services for inmates with special dietary needs as well as religious diets and hot and cold meals including sack lunches for inmates scheduled for court, inmate work crews, and/or emergency operational issues. DUTIES The Senior Institutional Cook supervises paid staff and in some assignments is required to direct or train inmates and juveniles in the preparation, cooking and serving of food. In addition, the position prepares, cooks and serves food; checks menu for items to be prepared; estimates number of persons to be served; makes substitutions on the menu when foods indicated are unavailable; determines quantities of ingredients to be used for the number of servings to be prepared; assists in ordering, receiving, checking and storing foods and supplies; reports suspected violations of institutional rules and submits reports of inmate or juvenile ward violations of rules and regulations to a designated authority; prepares records and reports; inspects food preparation areas to see that sanitary procedures are observed and ensures that proper techniques and procedures are being used by persons engaged in food service activities. The position may also perform meat cutting and baking duties. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will have experience working with large volumes of food for banquets or for large groups of people in a setting such as a hospital, the military, a large restaurant, cafeteria, etc. Will have the ability to detect odors and other indicators of food spoilage, push, pull and steer food carts. Incumbents work rotating schedules including weekends, holidays, nights and on an emergency basis as needed.
