Operates a bus in transporting personnel throughout County facility grounds and on special bus trips. Occasionally operates vehicles to tow trailers and to pick up and deliver supplies.
Essential Job Functions
Operates a light bus carrying patients, employees, and visitors on a regular scheduled route throughout facility grounds and to other locations such as public schools and parks as directed.
Gives direction and information, assists passengers boarding and departing the bus as required, and renders first aid when necessary.
Meets and deal courteously and effectively with the public.
Responsible for the service and regular maintenance schedule of the bus including the gas, oil, and tires.
Inspects the bus for mechanical conditions effecting safety of operation, makes minor repairs and reports major mechanical defects.
Cleans and washes the bus.
Operates other automotive equipment to pick up and deliver supplies and to transport specially equipped trailers.
Performs water and electrical utility hook up to trailers at destination.
Participates in the moving of supplies in warehouses or other buildings.
Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Six (6) months' experience in driving a bus or a truck of over 10,000 lbs. gross vehicle weight.LICENSE:
*A valid California Class B Driver License with special endorsement for passenger transport vehicles is required to perform essential job-related functions.A copy of valid California Class B License must be uploaded at the time of application filing or within fifteen calendar(15) days of filing online or your application will be rejected.
A valid American Red Cross basic first aid certificate.**SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
*Successful applicants for this position will be required to obtain a copy of his/her driving record from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles before being appointed. A copy of your driving record must be presented at the time of your appointment. License must not be suspended, restricted, or revoked. AN APPLICANT WHOSE DRIVING RECORD SHOWS FOUR OR MORE MOVING VIOLATIONS WITHIN THE LAST TWO YEARS WILL NOT BE APPOINTED.

PHYSICAL CLASS III:
Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
Candidates for this position may be required to take and pass a urine drug screen. In addition, positions in this class may be subject to Federal Department of Transportation requirements for commercial drivers which include pre-employment, post accident, reasonable suspicion, return to work, follow-up, and random urine drug and/or alcohol testing.
Additional Information EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of training and experience based on application information weighted 100%.Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on this examination in order to be placed on the Eligible Register. ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION: Applications will be processed on an "as-received" basis and those receiving a passing score will be promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.
The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the examination will be added to the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.NO PERSON MAY COMPETE IN THIS EXAMINATION MORE THAN ONCE EVERY TWELVE (12) MONTHS.
