The Preschool Services Department (PSD) is recruiting for Supervising Case Management Nurse who supervises Registered Nurses and Program staff in delivering services in the health program; makes home visits to evaluate situations and assess health; counsels on nutrition, safety, personal hygiene and child care; teaches and demonstrates nursing practices to family members; guides clients in setting attainable health care goals; and performs other administrative duties. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be usedto fill current and future vacancies as they occur throughout the County.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
1) Must be able to lift and carry a small child (up to 50 lbs) as needed/in the event of an emergency. Other physical demands include: sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, twisting, grasping, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling, reaching, stooping, using smell and touch, working outside and vision and hearing.
2) Must pass a pre-employment physical including a tuberculosis test and required immunizations (SB792).
3) Travel throughout the County is required.A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance is required at time of hire for the person providing the transportation.

CBCB also examines arrest records to determine if there is a possible danger to clients. Candidates must possess ALL of the following:
License:Must possess a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing. (A copy of RN license must be attached.)
Certification: Must possess and maintain current Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience:Three (3) years of full-time experience as a registered nurse in a public health department, health service provider, or community based health organization, which includes at least one (1) year of experience supervising subordinate staff. (This experience must be clearly detailed in the Work Experience section of the Application.)
Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in health science, health care administration, school health, nursing,or other health related field may substitute for one (1) year of non-supervisory experience as described. (If qualifying with substitution, copy of degree AND transcripts MUST be attached.)
Note: Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied with an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by any accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN), valid certification as a Public Health Nurse (issued by the State of California Board of Registered Nursing) and will have experience as a maternal and child health nurse.
