The Job

TheWorkforce Development Departmentis recruiting for ContractWorkforce Development Specialists(WDS) to work directly with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), CalWORKS Subsidized Employment Program (CSEP), or the Community Employment Pathways program participants providing employment and training services. Duties for Specialists include interviewing, screening and counseling program participants about potential employment barriers, alternate training and job opportunities; referring individuals for vocational assessment and counseling; evaluating vocational interests, education and experience for program placement; developing employability plans; and conducting program orientation, job search skills, resume development, motivational, and related training workshops.

The resulting eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies in Victorville, San Bernardino and Rancho Cucamonga. Indicate your willingness to work at each location in the Supplemental Questionnaire.

Background: Applicant must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment.
Travel:Travel throughout the County may be required; a valid California Class Cdriver license is required at time of appointment. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION:Thirty (30)semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework in business/public administration, education, human/behavioral/socialscience,or other relevant field. A list of coursework must be submitted with the application if a degree (as above)has not been conferred.

EXPERIENCE:One (1) year of experience engaged in employment search, facilitation and case management activities in one of the following client-based programs: Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Workforce Investment Act (WIA)or equivalent, CalWORKSEmployment Services, Regional Occupational Program (ROP), Job Corps, Department of Rehabiitation (DOR), Wagner-Peyser Act, Department of Labor Welfare to Work Program, or related federally funded workforce program.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree along with three (3) years of case management experience working with clients enrolled in WIOA programs,as well as excellenttime management and public speaking skills.
