Salary Range: $5,402-$6,904/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-time, Wednesday - Sunday, 1:30 pm - 10:00 pm; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under general supervision of the Assistant Director of Facilities, the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic has primary responsibility for inspection, maintenance and repair of the Student Housing Services physical plant. The incumbent will: perform corrective and preventative maintenance on mechanical and facilities equipment and systems, food service equipment, HVAC and plumbing; respond to daily work orders for resident apartments, conference groups and administrative areas; and perform skilled labor tasks in carpentry, plumbing, telecommunications, electrical, heating, air-conditioning, and painting to maintain, alter and repair all elements of the Housing and Residence Life portfolio.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience leading to journey-level skills in a mechanical or facilities/building trade, or an equivalent combination of training and experience as a facilities and systems mechanic which demonstrates the achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of an applicable apprenticeship program. Knowledge of the materials, methods, equipment and tools pertaining to facilities, systems, construction and renovation in related trade areas such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting and mechanical systems; thorough knowledge of accepted trade practices in trade specialty; working knowledge of applicable building and safety codes and regulations related to facilities systems and renovations. Incumbent must possess a valid California Driver License. Demonstrated interest and/or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
