The Sanitation Districts are a non-civil service public agency with over 1,700 employees, including over 200 engineers. We are nationally recognized for innovative engineering practices and leadership in designing, constructing and operating state-of-the -art systems for solid waste and wastewater management.
Our Joint Administration Office in Whittier is conveniently located near the 60/605 freeway interchange, 15 miles from downtown L.A. Under the general supervision of a Supervising Engineer, the incumbent will create structural design calculations for process tanks, buildings, pumping stations, sewer structures and pipes all in conformance with the latest structural design codes including ACI 350; prepare technical memoranda and cost estimates for new projects; assist structural designers in the preparation of contract drawings; prepare specifications, addenda and other contract documents for design projects; coordinate designs with other engineering disciplines and other sections within the Districts; coordinate and review designs of outside agencies and consultants; review construction submittals,RFI's, and change orders; and investigate and resolve technical issues during the constructionphase of projects.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess a valid California Class C driver license -AND-
additional credentials as follows: Option A : A bachelor's degree and master's degree both in a pertinent engineering discipline from an accredited and recognized college oruniversity; Option B: A bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a related science with an Engineer-In-Training Certificate and a master's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a pertinent engineering discipline; Option C: Two years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelor's degree inengineering from an accredited and recognized college or university.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Good technical writing and communication skills; have experience with the preparation of complex technical reports and comment letters; ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with a variety of people from field personnel to managers; the ability to work independently, manage projects, and be part of a team; self-motivated and dedicated; possessionofa bachelor's degree and a master's degree both in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structuresfrom an accredited and recognized college oruniversity.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
In addition to the minimum and desirable qualifications listed above, the most competitive applicants will have 2-10 years of relevant structural engineering experience. Working towards or possessing a license as a Structural Engineer is a plus.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
