The Position Bargaining Unit: Local 1 - Family and Children's Services Unit
The Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services Department is recruiting to fillvacant positions in the Community Services Bureau. Community Services Bureau administers the federally funded Head Start and Early Head Start and the state funded Child Development programs. The Bureau operates a central kitchen in Richmond, CA, where food is prepared on a daily bases and distributed to the Bureau's 13 directly operated child care centers within Contra Costa County (Richmond through Brentwood and Oakley, CA).
Under directions, drives a delivery van, transporting meals and food supplies to designated childcare sites. Assists in main kitchen work including food preparation, packaging and clean up, and other related culinary services as required.
Incumbents in the classification of Child Nutrition Food Services Transporter-Project are exempt from the Merit System and work in a state and/or federally funded project positions administered by Contra Costa County.

. Typical Tasks
Minimum Qualifications Education:
- Drives a delivery -van in transporting meals and food supplies
- Loads and unloads meals and supplies and keeps records of deliveries
- Inspects condition of vehicle and reports maintenance needs
- Keeps interior of vehicle clean and orderly
- Packages foods -and/or collects special foods for children with dietary restrictions
- Assists with catering of-site if required
- Washes and disinfects food cambros, containers and pans
- Cleans refrigerators, walk in-refrigerators and other equipment
- Sweeps and mops floors
- Cleans and disinfects counters and work surfaces
- Picks up and delivers bags of laundry
- Delivers department pony mail and other materials/supplies as required
- Maintains required records such as: transport record sheets, fuel receipts, transporter service route sheet
Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or high school proficiency certificate.License Required:
Candidates must possess a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License will be accepted during the application process.Experience:
One (1) year of full time, or its equivalent, experience driving a vehicle for a professional service or agency.Other Requirements:
