Job Summary

Mohave County Attorney's Office is recruitingfor an Audio Visual I.T. Investigator in the Criminal Division.

Performs journey-level investigative work involved in the obtaining of information primarily for the preparation of cases in the Offices of the Legal Advocate, Legal Defender, Public Defender, and County Attorney. Positions in the Legal Advocate, Legal Defender, and Public Defenders, Investigators may be assigned to dependency, delinquency and/or criminal cases (see additional Dependency/Juvenile Case Support functions below).

Essential Job Functions

  • Confers with assigned attorneys outlining requirements for investigation. Keeps attorneys apprised of the investigations with current, accurate information.
  • Assists attorneys in the preparation of cases for trial based on information obtained and determining additional information required.
  • In preparation of an investigation, reviews case files, police reports, court reports, witness statements, and other related documentation. Based on review of information, determines course of action to be taken to obtain the required information.
  • Performs interviews of clients while in custody or out of custody at the direction of the attorney.
  • Locates and interviews witnesses in dependency and criminal cases.
  • Prepares written reports of investigative findings and maintains accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Examines and photographs crime scenes or other areas and items appropriate to the investigation; locates experts to provide testimonies.
  • Serves subpoenas.
  • Testifies in court as necessary.
  • Assists local, county, state, federal and out-of-state agencies on investigations.
  • Communicate and maintain professionalism with the public, co-workers, and work contacts.
As assigned to County Attorney Office:
  • Functions listed above.
  • Use technology and computer software for managing and organizing large volumes of data and documents collected during a case.
  • Reviews case files, police reports, court reports, witness statements and other related documents. Based upon review of information, determines course of action to be taken to obtain the required or follow up information.
  • Travel to locations all over the county, including remote locations to obtain information or interviews.
  • Support and assist Victim Right's Advocates and all Support Staff (Civil and Criminal) as needed
  • Assist and coordinate with law enforcement as needed.
  • Provide advice and support to prosecutors on technical, multimedia and audio-visual presentation methods, techniques and equipment in order to enhance the quality of the presentation during trial and other hearings.
  • Setup AV for prosecutors and assist and support prosecutor throughout the trial or hearing in the presence of jurors and court staff.
  • Advise prosecutors on technical options. Interview and assess prosecutor requirements for desired technology and advice on appropriate technology to meet specific trial or hearing presentation activities.
  • Work with a wide variety of instructional, multimedia and audio-visual technologies, networks and computer hardware and software, in support of trials and other hearings. Keep current on trends in digital trials and courtroom presentation technologies.
  • Analyze and interpret AV/IT policy and law and ensures that media comports with policy.
  • Apply troubleshooting skills to assess in addressing equipment and process issues.
  • Plan and consult on the installation of new equipment and equipment upgrades including costing of solutions.
  • Coordinate and support web conferences or traditional video conferences.
  • Apply project management concepts in combination with AV-IT policies and procedures in determining technical support work flow.
  • Develop or escalate training as needed, based on consultation with users and understanding of technology, including FAQ's, knowledge-based entries, and job aids.
  • Develop user documentation, process improvements, or system design requirements, as needed.
SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Exercise regular and predictable attendance and punctuality in accordance with Mohave County Personnel Policies and Procedures.
ASSIGNED TO DEPENDENCY/JUVENILE CASE SUPPORT
  • Conducts home visits with clients in DCS (CPS) care throughout the County and State.
  • Performs interviews of clients while in custody or out of custody at the direction of the attorney.
  • Performs client interviews with juvenile clients in Child Protective Services (CPS) care throughout the county and state.
  • Assists and covers Child Family Team meetings for assigned attorneys.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Five (5) years as a certified law enforcement officer, preferably in a detective/investigator position.
  • OR any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENT
  • Must possess a valid driver's license for operation of motor vehicles on Arizona roads at the start of employment and maintain said license while employed in this position.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING ASSIGNED TO DEPENDENCY/JUVENILE CASE SUPPORT
  • High School diploma/ GED (General Education Degree).
  • Five (5) years' progressively responsible investigative experience with appropriate investigative experience on dependency/delinquency cases.
  • OR any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications.
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR DEPENDENCY/DELINQUENCY CASE ASSIGNMENT
  • Training, education and/or experience in child welfare investigations, education, behavioral/mental health, or social work working with children ages 0-18.
ADDITONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR COUNTY ATTORNEY OFFICE:
  • Current AZPOST certification or the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Experience as a certified law enforcement officer, preferably in detective/investigator position.
