The City is currently seeking to fill its City Engineer position. Under the direction of the Public Service Director, the City Engineer is responsible for all the functions and activities of the Engineering Division by performing professional and administrative engineering work, and assisting in planning, organizing, budgeting, directing staff and implementation of the City's Capital Improvement Program. Reviews and approves designs, plans, and specifications prepared by division and consulting engineers. Interacts with the public, other governmental agency officials, contractors, and consulting engineers. Also may act in the absence of the Public Services Director.
The ideal City Engineer will be a seasoned leader with a proven track record of effective team management. He/She must have five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of civil engineering, including three (3) years supervisory/management experience in a municipal agency. Graduation from a four year college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering. Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field is highly desirable.
*Due to recent budget reductions, employees in these classifications are required to furlough 104 hours between June 21, 2020 and July 20, 2021. New employees will have their required furlough hours prorated based on hire date. Application & Selection Process
