ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Presidential Associate for Diversity, Inclusion and Campus Climate, the Executive Director for Student Inclusion and Belonging plays a vital role in collaborating with campus constituencies to develop and improve policies, programs, practices and services for students, aimed at promoting and advancing an inclusive campus environment. The ED participates fully in the overall leadership and management of the Student Affairs Division, while maintaining responsibility for the overall development, implementation and management of both educational/training programs, community building initiatives, and response protocols in the area of student diversity and inclusion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Executive Director, Student Inclusion & Belonging (ED) will provide leadership and vision regarding all student diversity and inclusion priorities of the University, implementing strategies to support, improve, and strengthen students' experience of and sense of belonging to an inclusive polytechnic University; serve as a visible presence for support and a resource for students, by co-sponsoring and attending events sponsored by cultural organizations, centers and departments focused on building an inclusive campus community; utilize data-driven strategies to develop and manage an assessment process to determine effectiveness of all student diversity and inclusion programs, services, and trends; develop, execute, and manage effective student policies, procedures and practices to maintain an institution-wide commitment to the University's stated core values of inclusive excellence and social responsibility; participate in relevant professional conferences (i.e. NCORE - the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity, NASPA - National Association of Student Personnel Administrators), and remain current with relevant research publications that pertain to higher education and diversity and inclusion work; work with VPSA, Presidential Associate and other campus partners to: foster community and belonging across diverse student populations, address campus climate, inclusion and equity concerns; promote cross-cultural training, and; raise awareness of bias including tools to combat unconscious bias; oversee related budgets, expenses, and staffing needs to ensure effective use of university funds; partner with the Presidential Associate as well as the AVP/Dean of Students, Director of Student Life and Cultural Centers, Cultural Center Coordinators and the Associated Students Inc. (ASI) Officer of Diversity & Inclusion (a student government cabinet position) to advance campus programs that both educate the campus community about inclusion, but also provide support to traditionally marginalized and underrepresented student populations; provide direct advice to students on diversity and inclusion issues as they relate to community standards and practices, and principles of belonging; engage students with advanced technical and professional knowledge of Intergroup Dialogue practices, conflict navigation, and cultural counseling to address intergroup conflict; co-Lead with the Presidential Associate, the implementation of the Campus Climate Response Team; create and implement programs and initiatives that are educational, intentional and purposeful in reducing and/or eliminating bias for specific marginalized populations on campus; and serve as a vital member of the University's Inclusive Excellence Council.
The incumbent will co-lead with the Presidential Associate, campus climate education initiatives (i.e. provide trainings throughout campus; facilitate education trainings regarding bias awareness and inclusive campus practices); establish a Student Peer Inclusive Educators team and oversee and support their campus training work; serve as Co-Chair of the Campus Climate Response Team; serve on the Student Success Steering Committee and the Data Advisory Council for Student Success, with a special focus on ensuring that our programs and initiatives are contributing to eliminating our equity gaps in student retention and graduation rates; provide general support to student affinity groups in and beyond the campus cultural centers; lead shared professional development efforts regarding inclusion, enhancing the knowledge base on inclusion and equity within student affairs, academic affairs, enrollment management, and inclusion and equity; and serve on various diversity and inclusion groups in the University and partner with the Director of the Faculty Development Center, Human Resources and the Officer of Diversity & Inclusion (a student government cabinet position) within Associated Students Inc. (ASI) Student Government, to coordinate inclusion and cross-cultural trainings and programs.
The incumbent will serve on a number of Divisional and University committees, including but not limited to: the Student Affairs Leadership Team (SALT); Student Affairs Advisory Committee (SAAC); University Leadership Council (ULC); Inclusive Excellence Council; Campus Climate Response Team; Student Success Steering Committee; Data Advisory Council on Student Success; and other Committees as assigned.
A Master's degree is required ideally in a field relevant to higher education administration, student affairs, or inclusion and equity, including multicultural counseling, women's and gender studies, ethnic studies, social work, public policy, or similar social science fields AND seven (7) years of full-time experience in the stated content areas with knowledge and skills in strategic thinking/planning at a university/college or in a comparable non-profit association/organization. Sensitivity to and understanding of the varied perspectives that students, faculty and staff bring to campus, including academic perspectives and experiences deriving from race, socio-economic status, ethnicity, ability, gender, religion, sexuality and other intersectional identities; an engaging leadership style and strong public speaking and presentation skills, including demonstrated experience developing working relationships and deep credibility with student groups; advanced project management, analysis and problem-solving skills; demonstrated experience in designing and leading efforts relating to higher education or non-profit diversity, inclusion, inter/multiculturalism or social justice advocacy issues, including a fluency with current scholarship in one or more of these areas; experience encouraging, learning from, and utilizing diverse perspectives, ideas, and approaches to inform equity and inclusivity strategies; proven track record of interaction with professionals, organizations, and communities devoted to equity, inclusion and social justice initiatives within postsecondary policy and research communities; ability to collect, review, analyze and interpret institutional data to inform the impact of student diversity and inclusion initiatives at the institution; established record of presenting, training, teaching and creative idea generation and the ability to translate current scholarship and research into training and professional development programs accessible to a broad spectrum of stakeholder groups; exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituents; and proficiency in the use of computers and application software in a networked environment.
Ph.D./Ed.D. preferred, ideally in a field relevant to higher education administration, student affairs, or inclusion and equity, including multicultural counseling, women's and gender studies, ethnic studies, social work, public policy, or similar social science fields.

Salary is competitive and includes a comprehensive benefits package. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
