Job Description

Correctional Nurses provide professional nursing care to patients in a correctional setting. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Incumbents make comprehensive clinical observations/evaluations of health needs; conduct sick calls for inmates and obtain physician's orders for treatment; administer medication; perform physical assessments; obtain lab samples; provide emergency care such as CPR and first aid; documents accurate information into medical records; prepare treatment rooms; schedule appointments; and participate in clinic sessions. Incumbents will be working closely with inmates.
