Electrical/Control System Engineer

The Sanitation Districts are currently recruiting to fill two (2) Electrical/Control System Engineer positions.
The Sanitation Districts are a non-civil service public agency with over 1,700 employees, including over 200 engineers. Under the direction of the Supervising Engineer, the incumbent will perform electrical and instrumentation engineering related to the design, planning, construction, startup, operation and maintenance of the Districts wastewater treatment facilities and pumping plants industrial automation systems (SCADA and DCS); develop and recommend engineering solutions for the plants related to low-voltage power distribution systems and PLC- and hardwired-based control systems; perform advanced SCADA system programming (ladder logic and function blocks); specialize in Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Operator Interface graphical visualization development; specialize in network development and server virtualization; development and selection of SCADA system optimization/modernization for legacy control systems and standards; development of project cost estimates and economic analysis; review of design reports, including control descriptions, P&ID, and other instrumentation submittals; review of contractor and vendor O&Ms and as-built drawings; provide support for construction inspection and perform functional testing and commissioning for capital improvement projects; respond to emergency calls; and coordination of work with other Districts' sections and outside agencies.

One position will be assigned to the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in Carson, CA and one position will be assigned to the San Jose Creek Water Reclamation Plant in Whittier, CA. *Initial salary placement will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications.


Applicants must possess a valid California Class C driver license-AND- Option A : A bachelor's degree and master's degree both in a pertinent engineering discipline from an accredited and recognized college or university; Option B: A bachelor's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a related science with an Engineer-In-Training Certificate and a master's degree from an accredited and recognized college or university in a pertinent engineering discipline; Option C : Two years of professional engineering experience subsequent to earning a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited and recognized college or university.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will haveat least 5years experience as an Electrical Engineer/Control Systems Engineer designing, developing, and troubleshooting SCADA and industrial control systems for wastewater, powergeneration, petrochemical, or heavy industrial facilities projects for public agencies and more than5 yearsexperience with the entire suite of Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View software and Logix-based PLC hardware families, as well as experience with OSIsoft Pi System Data Enterprise configuration and administration.

A candidate hired at a level higher than Engineering Associate must be a registered Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California as either an Electrical or Control System Engineer. Additionally,if acandidate ishired as an Engineering Associate, or up to and including a Civil Engineer, the candidatemust compete in a competitive process for promotional opportunities to the Senior Engineerlevel.
