Salary: $51,281 - $76,170 per yr
Conservation Educators plan, organize, implement and evaluate educational programs designed to teach hunter and boating safety, environmental concepts and other wildlife related areas to the public, and participate in public relations activities. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Outdoor Connection Coordinator (OCC) will develop and administer the agency's statewide outdoor connection plan and will also be responsible for coordinating efforts to better connect people with nature. Using social science and other tools, the OCC will conduct needs assessments, develop and implement the plan. The incumbent will then analyze and evaluate effectiveness of the plan and modify as needed. The OCC will implement and measure the success of outreach programs (outdoor connection, relevancy, outdoor education, etc.) at regional, statewide and national levels. The incumbent will compile and analyze results of conservation connection campaigns to evaluate participation trends and support of conservation in Nevada; review data for outdoor enthusiast purchasing behavior to provide a better understanding of Nevada's diverse and growing population related to outdoor recreation; and will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with community and business partners to enhance program offerings to enhance conservation by connecting people with nature. The incumbent will be one of the leads in national, regional, and Nevada outdoor recreation meetings. The OCC will stay current with and update leadership on developing sciences and techniques for connecting people to the outdoors as well as progress in implementing NDOW's outdoor conservation connection plan. The ultimate purpose of this position is to enhance conservation in Nevada by engaging and serving broader constituents.
