. The annual salary for this position is up to $75,000.00 based on education and experience.Position Description
The primary purpose for this position is to plan, develop, initiate and maintain a public health genetics program. This position will provide supervision of all operations of the program and serve as a genetics expert to various programs throughout the Oklahoma State Department of Health. This position will establish and maintain effective internal and external relationships with professional and community groups to provide support for a variety of health issues of genetic origin as well as prepare and disseminate information about the program, develop resources, and educate the public.Position Responsibilities /Essential Functions
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive genetics program
• Plan, organize, and direct services for the program
• Development of long-term program plans
• Interpret and communicate agency and departmental policies and procedures
• Develop and implement program policies and procedures
• Perform program evaluation
• Develop and maintain internal and external partnerships
• Provide consultation services to programs throughout OSDH
• Create/review/provide genetic education to be directed at professional and non-professional staff
• Manage projects
• Collaborate with stakeholders and coordinate quality improvement activities
• Attend internal and external partnership meetings
• Represent OSDH at regional and national meetings
• Attend conferences and educational session as directedPhysical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office setting with a climate controlled settings and exposure to moderate noise level. While performing the duties of the job, employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires long period of sitting and daily use of computer and phone. The Programs Manager job family consists of five levels which are distinguished based on the scope and breadth of responsibility associated with the program responsibilities assigned. Level II:
At this level, employees are assigned responsibilities involving the direction or supervision of a work section of a division or will have responsibility for a single program area administered by the agency and will perform all essential functions related to the position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Level II:
Education and Experience required at this level consists of a master's degree and
two (2) years of professional supervisory, managerial, consultative or administrative experience in public health administration, social work, child support, adult protective services, child welfare, early childhood development and education, guidance and counseling, nursing, developmental disabilities, probation and parole, employment services, public administration, community-based prevention and diversionary youth services programs, juvenile justice, rehabilitation or disability services or counseling, or vocational evaluation or vocational rehabilitation, experience in instructing/directing a community service or recreational program or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting one year of professional level experience in the above listed areas for each year of the required education. NOTE: No substitution will be allowed for the required professional supervisory, managerial, consultative or administrative experience. SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
The Oklahoma State Health Dept. has been authorized to use a selective qualification when interviewing applicants for this position.
"Applicant must have two (2) years of professional supervisory, managerial, consultative or administrative public health administration experience in genetic counseling." NOTES REQUIREMENTS:
