Job Details Level: Experienced Job Location: Mercury Air Cargo (AVION) - Los Angeles, CA Salary Range: Undisclosed Job Category: WarehouseDescriptionMercury Air Cargo, has a Warehouse Supervisor position available at: 6040 Avion Dr., Los Angeles, CA Job Summary: Responsible for supervising Warehouse Agents and Lead Warehouse Agents in handling cargo throughput for both import and export operations. Duties and Responsibilities: Direct Warehouse Agents and Lead Agents to meet business needs. Ensure Warehouse Agents and Lead Agents are following safety rules and ensuring safety standards are in place. Communicate any safety issue or property damage immediately to a manager. Wear a safety vest at all times while working, walking or operating equipment within a Mercury Air Cargo warehouse. Conduct monthly Employee Safety Performance Audit (ESPA). Create and adjust employee schedules to ensure appropriate operational coverage to meet customer requirements at all times. Monitor employee attendance, timeliness and compliance with wage and hour regulations, including reviewing and approving time reports and controlling overtime and labor costs within reason while maintaining budgetary levels. Use of automated time-keeping system (Paycom). Assist management in hiring, employee relations and/or conflict resolution, prepare performance appraisals, provide input for counseling and terminations. Ensure Warehouse Agents and Lead Agents operate forklift, tugs, transporters and all related ground equipment, subsequent to certification that appropriate training has been completed. Must complete injury reports and damage reports as required. Authorize/ensure post-accident and post-injury testing is done as required. Demonstrate diligence required to maintain security under Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA), Airport Police, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and United States Customs/Border Protection (USCBP) Regulations. You will challenge any and all persons not displaying an airport I.D. badge within a Mercury warehouse or any Airport Operational Area. (AOA). Maintain records and appointments necessary for employment on the airport such as: airport badge appointments, USCBP interviews or other government required meetings. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age Must possess clean driving record and valid driver's license (DMV print-out required) Must provide 10 years background employment/education information Must provide proof of the legal right to work in the United States Must have at least one year experience as Lead Warehouse Agent with proven success. Physical Demands/Working Environment: Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Tolerate moderate to loud levels of noise within the work environment Will be required to work in cold storage areas as assigned Stand and remain standing for periods up to 3 hours without sitting Demonstrate daily a fitness for obligation without impairment due to illegal drugs, sleep deprivation, medication, or alcohol May be required to work all of the following: irregular hours and/or shifts, including split-shifts; holidays and weekends; overtime; and extended hours. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Desired): English proficiency (e.g., reading, writing, speaking, listening) Mental abilities (e.g., visual observation and identification, mental rotation) Interpersonal skills (e.g., customer service, dependability) Work values (e.g., responsibility, honesty, integrity) Physical abilities(e.g., lifting and carrying freight weighing up to 75 lbs., bending, reaching, stooping, squatting, standing, walking and identifying objects) Basic use of office equipment (copier, fax, calculator, point of service/POS system) Basic use of software and/or computer programs (MS Office, Paycom) Knowledge of advanced arithmetic and mathematics Knowledge of airline codes, prefixes, common cargo abbreviations Comprehension of airway bill Attention to detail Ability to prepare written documents, communications and counseling notices Ability to follow instructions from manager and customer Ability to act in supervisory position and give direction to leads and warehouse agents Ability to work as an effective team member in a leadership role Ability to obtain U.S. Customs seal and license to drive on Airport Operations Area (AOA).
