Police Officer Job Specification Experience & Education and License/Certificate A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Academy-Enrolled : Must be currently enrolled in a California POST Basic Academy; and must have the ability to successfully complete the City of Newport Beach Police Department Field Training Program. Lateral : Must have successfully completed probationary period and training program at another law enforcement agency; and must possess current California POST Basic certificate. License/Certificate : Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required. Description: Position Summary Under general supervision of the Associate Athletic Director Sports Medicine and direct supervision of the Associate Athletic Trainer, will provide athletic training support by working camps. When injuries occur, the Assistant Athletic Trainer for Camps serves as the first responder by recognizing and evaluating the injury, and subsequently refers to appropriate physicians or emergency care when necessary. Administratively, they will be responsible in the collection of medical history/consent and liability documents prior to the start of camp and documenting any/all injuries in the appropriate injury report form. SDSU work hours vary based on operational needs. Education and Experience Equivalent to bachelor's degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology or related field of study or combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. Course work must include completion of the Board of Certification (BOC) curriculum requirements. Licenses and/or Certifications Required Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification. Compensation and Benefits Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $21.60 per hour. CSU Classification Salary Range: $20.60 - $39.76 per hour. This position may be eligible for holiday pay and a $1.35/hour shift differential for hours worked after 6:00 pm. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
