Salary: $45,895 - $68,843
Under general supervision, conducts fire and arson investigations; performs inspections of commercial, industrial and public buildings to ensure compliance with City fire prevention codes and ordinances. Participates in arson and major fire investigations; photographs fire scenes; preserves and collects evidence; interviews victims, witnesses and suspects. Reviews plans for new construction to determine compliance with fire prevention codes; issues operational and construction permits. Applies and explains complex laws, codes, regulations and ordinances to various audiences. Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; AND three years’ experience in fire service operations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Certifications: TCOLE Basic Peace Officer license; TCFP Basic Fire Inspector and Arson Investigator certification. A valid Texas Driver’s License is required.
