Lewis County Government

Employer Description

Lewis County is located in the heart of Southwest Washington mid-way between Seattle and Portland. It stretches from the crest of the Cascade Range between Mt. Rainier and Mt. St. Helens, westward about 100 miles into the outlying hills and mountains of the Coast Range. It is approximately 2,446 square miles in area and, while geographically the sixth largest county in the state, the county's current population is only about 70,000.

The low population and large geographical area makes outdoor recreation one of the prime reasons for living or just visiting in the county. Hundreds of thousands of acres of forests and mountains for hunting and hiking with streams, rivers, and lakes for fishing, swimming, and boating.

From skiing on the county's eastern edge at White Pass to dipping your toes in the Pacific Ocean to the west, Lewis County is central to accessing the delights of the big cities to the north and south as well as accessing the fun, solitude and recreation of the unspoiled outdoors.
