The Truckee community has existed for over 150 years. The Town was incorporated as a municipality by a vote of the people in 1993. The Town of Truckee strives to keep our citizens informed, engaged, and heard. We love our Town, and the biggest part of what makes it great is the thousands who call Truckee “home”.  

Truckee citizens are represented by a five-member town council with overlapping terms up for reelection every four years. The Town of Truckee is proud to have numerous committees– these committees allow our citizens to engage with the Town and use their voices to make an impact on the community as a whole. Reserve Police Officer - The Town of Truckee Police Department is seeking a part-time Reserve Police Officer. The Town currently employs only Level I reserves on a part-time basis. Reserve officers can serve in many capacities to support the mission of the department including uniformed patrol, investigations, special event security along with bike and boat patrol. After initial field training, reserve officers are expected to maintain sufficient proficiency to perform the duties of a solo-patrol officer. All uniforms and safety equipment are provided to Reserve Officers. At the time of appointment, candidates must be at least 21 years of age; meet the minimum Peace Officer Selection Requirements established by the California Government Code and the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) and meet the minimum California POST requirement for a Level I Reserve Police Officer. The Position This position works in the Animal Services Division of the Police Department, and is responsible for the care of animals at the shelter. Typical duties include cleaning dog runs and cat housing, shelter janitorial duties, feeding and medicating animals, maintaining records of shelter animals, and socialization of animals. This position also assists with intake and redemption of animals, behavior assessments, and issuing of dog licenses. Irregular shifts, holiday, and weekend work is required.
