The Municipality of Bethel Park is a Home Rule Community governed by a Council/Manager form of Government. The Municipality is evenly divided into nine wards according to census population data with each ward represented by a member of the Council. Terms of Council are four years; terms are staggered with even-numbered wards running two years apart from the odd-numbered wards. The Mayor is elected at large and also serves a four-year term. The Municipal Manager is appointed by the Municipal Council.
