OVERVIEW Position Overview Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the incumbent will collect fees and assist in operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of equipment for the Solid Waste facilities. QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Required Education and Experience Six months of customer service and cashiering experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills and ability required to perform the work Preferred Education, Experience or Other Qualifications Experience working with solid waste and recyclable goods. Experience performing janitorial and grounds keeping duties. Experience performing small equipment maintenance and repair Driving Requirements The successful incumbent must meet the driving requirements of this position and submit a copy of a current driving record/abstract (from state of residency) to review for eligibility to drive for Kitsap County prior to employment. The successful incumbent must obtain a valid Washing State Driver's License prior to hire and maintain a satisfactory driving record as outlined in the Kitsap County Vehicle Use Policy. This position is categorized as: Category 1: Driver operates County-owned vehicle Required Licenses, Certificates, Examinations/Tests and Other Requirements Please note: The incumbent is responsible for obtaining and maintaining all of the following required licenses, certifications and other requirements. Prior to employment, the successful candidate must: Submit official transcripts from an accredited college or university or business school, if education is being used to meet the minimum qualifications. Pass a medical/physical evaluation. Pass a criminal history background check through law enforcement agencies. At time of appointment, the successful candidate must: Possess a valid Washington State driver's license. Within six months of employment, the successful candidate must obtain: Possess Washington State Industrial First Aid / CPRcertification. Basic methods and techniques of used oil, antifreeze, and battery recycling. Standard arithmetic practices. Basic cashiering and reconciliation methods and procedures. Skills and/or Ability to : Appear for scheduled work with regular, reliable and punctual attendance. Schedule and prioritize workflow to complete tasks and meet deadlines. Make inquiries and visual checks to determine if vehicles contain unacceptable wastes. Perform service functions such as janitorial duties (sweeping and washing down the facilities, picking up debris), grounds keeping (trimming bushes and shrubs, pulling weeds and cutting grass) and general painting. Operate small tools, lawn maintenance equipment and other equipment. Perform basic equipment maintenance and repair. Act as flag person within the work site, places traffic cones and other traffic devices to ensure a smooth flow of traffic; directs traffic to the stalls and commodity containers. Provide general information and answer questions regarding County policy on refuse disposal, and disposal options. Other Job Duties: Perform other related duties as required.
