Under the direction of the County Manager, the Asset Management Services Director oversees the staff, budget and operations of the Asset Management Services Department (AMS). The Department is responsible for routine and emergency maintenance of all county facilities, space needs planning for future and renovated facilities, coordinating county facilities and lease contracts, negotiating rents and leases for non-county-owned space needed by county departments, and serving as the county contact for landlords. AMS consists of 38 full-time equivalent employees and operates with a $5.5 million budget. The department supports 24 County buildings with 323,829 cleanable square feet. With a consolidated budget of approximately $258 million (approximately $227 million in the General Fund Budget) and a workforce of 990 permanent employees, Orange County provides strong support for quality public and educational services. The Asset Management Services Department is one of the Support Services departments of the County, along with Community Relations, Finance and Administrative Services, Human Resources, and Information Technology, collectively reporting to the County Manager and closely working with the Deputy County Manager.
