    This position will report to and assist with work at Edward ‘Ted’ and Pat Jones - Confluence Point State Park, 1000 Riverlands Way, West Alton, MO. Work duties will also include assisting with maintenance on the Eastern section of the Katy Trail, which goes from Marthasville to Machens. This position typically works Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch break. Shifts may vary occasionally with the time of year and to meet the needs of the facility.

    • Responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled work in maintenance, natural resource stewardship, and repair or alteration of state buildings and facilities. Work area includes Katy Trail State Park.
    • Work in a variety of trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair in settings such as facilities and grounds.
    • Routine cleaning of park buildings, restrooms, campsites, and park grounds.
    • Operate and maintain lawn mowers, tractors, skid loader, trucks, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and similar mechanical equipment.
    • Basic computer and customer service skills for timekeeping, assisting visitors, and regular report tracking.
    • Assist with prescribed burns, wildfire suppression, herbicide application, and other natural or cultural activities as directed with the completion of Level 1 Prescribed Fire training.
    • Maintain a valid vehicle operator’s license to operate and maintain licensed vehicles, as well as tractors, mowers, skid steer, and other grounds related equipment.
    • May also oversee a crew engaged in maintenance tasks.


    This position is required to obtain and maintain a commercial operator’s license (CDL). If required and if you do not currently possess this license/certification, you will be given six months to obtain necessary license/certification.

    Equivalent to those typically gained by:

    • 1-3 years of experience in any of the following trade areas: electrical, plumbing, concrete and masonry, carpentry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair.
