DescriptionThe Community Engagement Coordinator plans, coordinates, and implements outreach, engagement, and communication initiatives that increase public awareness of county procurement programs, business opportunities, and community partnerships. This role supports the Office of Business Opportunities by fostering relationships with residents, advocacy groups, vendors, and stakeholders through strategic communication, social media management, and community-focused events that align with Charleston County’s mission and goals.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $50,440 - $66,060 (Estimated Annual Salary)

Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Leads and coordinates community events, outreach initiatives, and engagement activities in
support of the Office of Business Opportunities’ mission and goals.
*Plans, implements, and monitors social media strategies and platforms to increase awareness of business opportunities and procurement initiatives.
*Prepares daily content, schedules, and communications for all social media outlets to maintain timely and consistent public engagement.
*Collaborates with the Office of Business Opportunities and Procurement Department to establish and maintain consistent messaging and branding.
*Delivers monthly reports detailing outreach activities, engagement metrics, social media analytics, and program results.
*Develops and oversees a monthly community engagement calendar that targets key audiences and supports outreach and educational objectives.
*Interacts continuously with community organizations, advocacy groups, Charleston County residents, vendors, and other key stakeholders to strengthen partnerships and communication.
*Creates and maintains a strong online brand presence across a variety of social media and digital communication platforms.
*Arranges community events, speaking engagements, workshops, and special projects that encourage positive interaction between county officials and the public.
*Coordinates outreach activities and public engagement events to promote supplier diversity, procurement awareness, and community participation.
*Supports public education initiatives by providing information regarding county procurement programs, vendor opportunities, and community resources.
*Maintains effective working relationships with county departments, external organizations, community leaders, and the public.
*Monitors community feedback and engagement trends to recommend improvements to outreach strategies and communication efforts.
*Ensures outreach materials, messaging, and engagement activities reflect the County’s values, policies, and strategic objectives.
*Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
*Associates Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field of study. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
*Minimum of five (5) years or more of experience in the development and implementation of community engagement programs or related field with progressive responsibility levels.
*Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft 365.
*Must possess a valid SC Drivers license (or obtain within three (3) months of hire) and meet the requirements of the County’s motor vehicle policy.
*Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to forty (40) pounds occasionally.
