DescriptionThe Peer Support Coordinator coordinates and maintains peer support activities for the Charleston County Consolidated Emergency Communications Center (ECC) and other county departments within the Public Safety Directorate as needed. The incumbent provides leadership to the Peer Support Team, ensures team members fulfill ongoing continuing education requirements, delivers technical assistance, and serves as a dedicated advocate for peer support programs across the department.
HIRING HOURLY: $24.25 - $31.76

Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Order of Essential Functions does not indicate importance of functions.)
Coordinates the Peer Support program for the Emergency Communications Center and, as necessary, other departments within the Public Safety Directorate in coordination with the Peer Support Team’s clinical director. Provides administration, monitoring, development, and evaluation of the Peer Support Team. Assists the Peer Support Team’s clinical director in developing Peer Support program procedures. Coordinates communication between the clinical director and Peer Support Team. Assists the clinical director in disseminating educational material and resources for the Peer Support program. Maintains Peer Support Team records. Analyzes, evaluates, and reports on the state of the Peer Support program. Coordinates the response for Critical Incident Stress Management and Debriefing, and other response resources. Participates in departmental activations during emergency events. Performs other duties or assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Pursuant to the South Carolina Criminal Justice Information System guidelines, incumbent must be no less than eighteen (18) years of age. High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration is preferred. Minimum of two (2) years as a Peer Support Team member in a public safety environment. Peer Support Specialist Certification required. Must possess a current NCIC certification or obtain and maintain certification within six (6) months of hire date. Must have no felony convictions; misdemeanors will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and disposition information must be provided. Pass a background investigation including driving record, employment history, employment, education, and training verification, illegal conduct (drug use, etc.), and reference check. Pass a pre-employment physical and psychological evaluation. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft 365. Must possess a valid SC Driver’s License (or obtain within three (3) months of hire) and meet the requirements of the County’s motor vehicle policy.
